 We can see the merits of both same room and separate room swaps. We prefer same room swaps at least the first few times we swap with a couple.

 We have swapped with friends in both same and separate rooms. It all depended on the level of comfort between all in party. We like separate rooms because we both feel that you can "let go" and perform better with your partner. We never, however, tell anyone that we prefer separate room swap. We simply tell our "new friends" what we have done in the past and the reasons. It has worked out very well for us.
