A Moth Drawn To The Flame
A Moth Drawn To The Flame Stars fill the nighttime sky on a cool crisp night high up on the mountain The darkness calms the spirit as the campfire warms the body and soul As solitude and peace penetrate the cold heart A small moth is drawn to the flame and the mind wanders What causes the moth to be drawn to the flame What causes a man to be drawn to a woman As the flame flickers it’s simple but amazingly beautiful Unique, dynamic, alluring and captivating much like her beauty I gaze into the fire as the coal’s radiant glow intoxicates my mind Much like the gaze into her eyes opens a window down deep in her soul Past hurts, crushed dreams, fears and failures Radiate out of her eyes even as a smile masks her lovely face Her longing eyes begging for her body to be held by another To feel the warmth that emanates from a fire that burns deep within Does the moth know the danger of the fire, yet chooses to draw closer Or does the exhilarating dance render it helpless as it flits around the flames Does the temptation of two bodies intertwined abandoned to passion and ecstacy Outweigh the dangers of being burned or consumed by that which gives it joy Or will the spark of two bodies as one burn for a lifetime Or is the moth simply taking in all that the campfire has to offer Deriving inspiration from its beauty, and warmth and radiant glow |
